iPhone game developer set to double development team size

Leamington Spa based publisher Kwalee was set up by industry veteran David Darling just six months ago. Since then they have been building a team to develop their own technology whilst at the same time writing their first game, which will be coming to market soon. Now the foundations are in place and the company can build by creating multiple teams. Kwalee is looking to recruit up to ten experienced game programmers over the coming months, more than doubling the size of the development team. Continue reading

Penumbra: Overture, HPL1 Engine and OALWrapper released as open source

Frictional Games today announces the release of the source code for their first game Penumbra: Overture, together with the source code for the engine and tools used in its creation. Penumbra: Overture contains a unique physics interaction system for first person games, a system that has been exclusive to the series and not found in any other game. The source code is currently running on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Continue reading
